THE BAND:

Aquilla are a dynamic rock band held in the highest regard by their peers. Made up of 5 former professional musicians (who all hail from Devon) they perform both unique rock covers and original material with a powerhouse live concert style sound.

Influenced by the big AOR bands of the late 70’s (including Kansas, Boston and Toto) the band also draw their live sound from the likes of Wishbone Ash, Paul Rodgers and Gary Moore.

They are known to many fellow musicians and gig goers for their sumptuous vocal harmonies and powerful twin guitars. Each of the band members have toured the UK and Europe at various times during their respective careers and Aquilla itself was formed in 2019 as part of lead vocalist Dave Trants' 70th birthday celebrations. It was off of the back of the overwhelming positive response that the band then became a fully-fledged gigging outfit.

In September 2023 the guys (to high acclaim) supported the legendary Wishbone Ash at the Exeter Phoenix, and they returned there in June 2024 as special guests to funk rock icons The Blockheads.

THE ALBUM:

Aquilla’s debut release The View From Here is an original rock concept album which features 12 songs and a 20 page companion booklet which will take you on a journey to a distant empire.

When the crew of a sole surviving warship return after a generation away, will their stories of friendship, loyalty and hope for the future be enough to inspire a long overdue unity of their people?

A purposeful call back (both musically and in its design) to the golden age of albums, The View From Here delivers an engaging blend of memorable melodies, big vocal harmonies and driving twin guitars.

If you’re a fan of the big arena rock acts from the late 70’s and early 80’s (such as Foreigner, Journey, Styx, The Eagles) then there’s a very good chance you’ll like this album!
